Released on 1 January 2025 and part of the P-6000 line. This release has a mesh upper in White/Metallic Silver/Black/Black. The P-6000 is Nike drawing on its own running archive rather than its basketball one, which puts it in the line that goes all the way back to why the company exists. Bill Bowerman coached track at the University of Oregon and thought American runners deserved lighter shoes than the domestic market offered, so he and Phil Knight started importing them in 1964 before building their own. White with metallic silver and black is the most archival way to buy this silhouette: the palette of late 1990s and early 2000s running shoes, when reflective and metallic panels were performance features rather than fashion choices. It reads as a training shoe from a specific era, which is exactly what people want from it.
Recipe one: grey technical trousers with a cuffed hem, a white tee and a black shell jacket, letting the metallic panels tie into the outerwear hardware. Recipe two: light wash baggy jeans, a navy zip fleece and white socks, a softer everyday read where the silver just glints. This silhouette carries volume, so it needs trousers with enough width to sit over it rather than slim legs that make the sole look oversized. White mesh stains easily, so treat before wearing and brush dry after each outing. Avoid solvents on the metallic overlays, since the coating lifts. Rotate rather than wearing daily to give the sculpted midsole time to recover.
Nike's running credibility was built by athletes rather than campaigns: Steve Prefontaine was its first track endorser and its symbol of running as attitude, and Sebastian Coe, Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Michael Johnson and Allyson Felix all ran in the Swoosh. This is a layered build rather than a moulded one, a mesh base with stitched synthetic and metallic overlays that segment the upper into visible sections, which is what gives the silhouette its busy, technical look. Metallic silver panels are coated finishes, so they catch light rather than reflect colour, and they sit against the white base to create depth without adding another colour. The sole unit is chunkier and more shaped than a court shoe's, with a sculpted midsole and rubber pods underfoot, giving a softer and slightly raised ride. Nike's outsole thinking traces back to Bowerman pouring rubber into a waffle iron to cut weight, and the segmented pod pattern here is the modern descendant of that logic.
