Designed by Peter Moore and released on 31 July 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/Sail/Bordeaux. Bordeaux is a wine tone, and putting it on a women's Air Jordan 1 Low is Jordan Brand doing what it has done since the shoe outgrew basketball: keeping Peter Moore's 1985 outline and changing everything else. The 1 sold out its initial 50,000 pairs and passed 150 million dollars against a Nike target of three million over three years, which bought the silhouette enough goodwill to survive being taken anywhere. The women's programme is where the line's colour work is least constrained by the red, black and white house palette, and a deep burgundy low is exactly that freedom in practice: a Jordan that reads as a wardrobe decision rather than a sneaker release.
Two recipes. First, cream wide leg trousers with a camel coat, where the burgundy works as the warm anchor at the bottom of a neutral column. Second, black tights or slim black denim with an oversized grey knit, letting the shoe supply the only colour. Lows suit warm weather and no show socks, and this palette moves easily into autumn dressing. Women's sizing runs narrower, so if you have a broad forefoot consider the men's equivalent instead of sizing up. Keep it away from prolonged sun, wipe with a barely damp cloth and mild soap, and store with the laces loosened so the collar does not fold.
The Air Jordan 1 is the shoe that turned collecting into a mass activity, and the resale economy around it has been valued at roughly two billion dollars. The women's line matters inside that because it is where the silhouette proves it can hold a colour that has nothing to do with a basketball team. Jordan Brand, a Nike division since 1997, also runs a signed roster that includes WNBA players Maya Moore and Jordin Canada, which is the sporting half of the same commitment. A wine coloured low is the least literal Jordan you can wear while still wearing one, and that is precisely its appeal.
The women's last is cut narrower through the heel and midfoot than the men's, so the fit is genuinely different rather than a size conversion, and that matters more on a low where the collar cannot compensate. Nike Air cushioning has been part of the line since the second model. Bordeaux is a dark, saturated tone that behaves well in the real world: it hides dust, it takes rain marks without spotting obviously, and it deepens rather than fades in ordinary wear. Sunlight is the enemy, because red based dyes shift towards brown with sustained UV. Keep the midsole clean separately, expect vamp creasing on any low cut 1, and condition leather panels sparingly rather than often.
