Designed by Peter Moore and released on 6 August 2022 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/White/New Emerald. New Emerald is a clear, slightly blue leaning green, and on the women's Jordan 1 Low it lands as a colour statement rather than a reference to anything in the line's history. That is a freedom the Low earned. Peter Moore's 1985 pattern was built for a basketball court, and the cut down version has spent its life as a general purpose shoe, which means Jordan Brand can put any colour on it without contradicting a story. Green sits outside the Chicago red, black and white palette that works as a brand colour, so an emerald pair reads as a wardrobe choice: recognisable outline, unfamiliar shade, no team attached.
Green is the accent, so let the rest be quiet. White or cream trousers with a plain white top makes the shoe the entire story, which is the cleanest way to wear a saturated colour. Alternatively, black straight leg jeans with a grey knit gives the emerald a cold background that makes it look brighter. Avoid navy and avoid a second green item. The low cut works well under a cropped or hemmed trouser and suits warm weather. Size true to your usual sneaker size, clean the midsole weekly, wipe the coloured panels gently, and keep the pair out of prolonged direct sun.
The women's side of Jordan Brand runs on its own logic, with signed athletes including Maya Moore and Jordin Canada and music collaborators such as Billie Eilish and Nicki Minaj, alongside the design partnerships with Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Dior and Comme des Garcons that made a coloured Jordan 1 a normal fashion purchase. The line reached that point through hip hop and through Nike's Spike Lee directed advertising with Lee playing Mars Blackmon, but nothing about a bright emerald Low is asking you to know any of that. It works as colour first, heritage second.
The Low uses the standard Jordan 1 panel layout with the Wings mark and a cut collar that leaves the ankle free, over a flat rubber cupsole with a firm ride. There is no visible Air unit here, that cushioning entered the line from the Air Jordan II onward, so the shoe sits close to the ground and stays stable. A bright green against white makes the panel edges the main event, which means clean seams and a clean midsole are what keep the pair looking sharp. Saturated greens are prone to dulling in strong sunlight, so store the pair boxed, wipe the panels with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing, and keep the white sole edge sponged.
