Released on 12 May 2022 and part of the Jordan Sophia line. This release has a synthetic upper in Black/Black/Fire Red. Black with Fire Red is Jordan Brand's founding colour argument, and putting it on a women's slide is the most relaxed possible use of it. The line exists because Nike signed Michael Jordan in 1984, an endorsement that turned into a business of its own and eventually into a brand with its own product categories, footwear that has nothing to do with playing basketball included. A slide is where that logic ends up: the Jumpman applied to something you wear to walk from a car to a door. Fire Red against black keeps the connection to the original palette clear, so the piece still reads as Jordan rather than as generic sportswear.
Two ways. First, the intended one: straight out of a gym bag with track trousers and a hoodie, wet feet, no socks, walking to the car. Second, deliberate: black wide leg trousers cropped at the ankle with a white tank and a red accessory, which turns the slide into a summer flat rather than a recovery shoe. Slides run in whole sizes and generally fit long, so size down if you are between and want the strap to sit across the widest part of your foot. Rinse with fresh water after pool or beach use because chlorine and salt degrade foam, and dry them out of direct sun to stop the footbed hardening.
Jordan Brand's cultural reach came from basketball and travelled through hip hop: from the 1980s onward Air Jordans were status objects in urban fashion before becoming staples of mainstream American youth dress. A slide is a moulded build rather than a stitched one. The strap carries the branding and does all the holding, while the footbed is contoured to locate the foot and the outsole is textured for wet floor grip, which is where most slides succeed or fail. Black with a Fire Red accent means the colour lands as branding on a dark base, so scuffs and pool chalk show far less than they would on a light pair.
