Yeezy Knit Runner Fade Indigo

A blue gradient sock shoe is a strong visual, so keep the rest quiet. Recipe one: black wide leg trousers and a black tee, where the fade becomes the only colour and the sock silhouette reads as intentional. Recipe two: raw indigo denim cropped at the ankle with a white shirt, tying the shoe's darkest blue to the jeans while the lighter fade lifts away from them. Skip anything with a busy print. Because the collar is knit, it slips on in a second, which makes this a good travel and airport shoe. Take your true size; knit gives, mould does not. Hand clean with cold water and a soft brush and dry away from heat, since the bond between knit and sole dislikes high temperatures.

By 2021 the label had already changed what a sneaker release looked like, with limited drops, queue culture, bot buying and a resale economy built around scarcity, and the Foam Runner and Slide had pushed its design language into general fashion. The Knit Runner belongs to that late period, where the brand was working towards footwear with as few components as possible. The partnership ended on 25 October 2022 when adidas terminated it after antisemitic public remarks by founder Kanye West, calling them unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, so late models like this had short commercial lives and now circulate through remaining stock and resale.

The upper is a one piece knit that pulls on like a sock and holds through fabric tension rather than through any closure, which is why the shoe has such a clean uninterrupted profile. The indigo gradient is knitted in, with yarn colours changing progressively through the piece, so the fade is structural and will not wash off or crack. That knit is bonded directly to a moulded sole unit with a sculpted sidewall and a textured outsole for grip. There is no external cage, no overlays and no logo, so everything holding the shoe together is either knit tension or the mould. Expect a very close fit with almost no break in period.
