Released on 30 January 2025 and part of adidas's Samba line. This release has a fur upper in Core Black/Preloved Red/Cream White. The Cheetah Pack is the Samba OG treated as a canvas for animal print, and Preloved Red is the version where the print sits under a deep, faded red rather than a neutral. It is a women's cut, and the appeal is the collision: an indoor football silhouette, the most utilitarian shape adidas owns, carrying a print with no athletic justification at all. That contradiction is the entire Originals business. The Trefoil, three leaves over three stripes, was designed in 1971 and launched for the 1972 Munich Olympics, and after 1997 it stopped meaning performance and started meaning permission. Under that mark a football boot can be printed like a coat and nobody objects.
Print is the loudest element you own, so let it lead. Recipe one: black straight leg denim and a black top, nothing else, so the cheetah print reads as the only pattern in the outfit and the faded red keeps it warm rather than harsh. Recipe two: play tone on tone with a rust or burgundy knit and cream trousers, so the red pulls upward and the print becomes texture rather than a statement. Best for evenings, weekends and anywhere your outfit is otherwise plain. The Samba runs narrow and slightly long, so stay true to size. Store away from direct sunlight since faded reds shift further with UV, and brush the printed panels dry after every few wears.
adidas has spent decades handing the Three Stripes to outside authors, effectively inventing the modern fashion designer sneaker partnership through Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3, Stella McCartney from 2004, then Jeremy Scott, Raf Simons and Alexander Wang. A print pack is the in house version of that instinct, the brand doing to itself what a collaborator would do to it. The permission for all of it traces back to the moment adidas was adopted rather than bought: Run-DMC recorded My Adidas on 29 May 1986 with no deal in place, then held their shell toes up at Madison Square Garden that July, and the brand learned that its product belonged to whoever styled it.
The base is the standard Samba OG architecture: a leather quarter, a shaped toe overlay, serrated Three Stripes stitched down the flank, and a thin flat sole. What changes is the surface. The cheetah print runs across the overlay panels in a raised, hairy calf style texture, so the shoe has two very different hands, smooth leather against a directional nap. Preloved Red is a muted, dusty red rather than a bright one, which lets the print read as pattern instead of costume. Textured print panels need different care from the rest of the shoe: brush with the grain, never against it, and keep water off the printed sections since matting the nap flattens the pattern permanently.
