Released on 1 August 2024 and part of adidas's Samba line. This release has a leather upper in White. The Samba OG is one of the plainest shoes adidas makes and one of the hardest to improve, which is exactly why the White Floral Embroidery version is interesting. Instead of changing the shape, it changes the surface, threading floral work across a shoe whose entire identity is austerity. adidas has been building this kind of low, flat, indoor football trainer since long before it became a lifestyle staple, and its route into wardrobes followed the same path as the Superstar and Stan Smith, which became the base layer of European terrace and casual dressing. A women's cut with embroidery takes that inherited plainness and gives it decoration that has to earn its place stitch by stitch.
First recipe: white on white, cream wide trousers with an ecru knit, and let the floral embroidery be the only pattern in the outfit. Second: contrast it hard with black straight jeans and a black tee so the white and the thread work pop as the single bright element. They suit brunches, gallery days, travel and any casual occasion where you want detail rather than a statement sneaker. The Samba runs narrow and low volume, so size up half if you have a wide foot.
