Designed by Peter Moore and released on 3 June 2022 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Plum Fog/Amethyst Wave/Amethyst Ash/White. Acclimate is the name Jordan Brand gives to weather ready takes on its silhouettes, and Plum Fog is a soft, greyed purple that suits a shoe built for grim months. The parent shape is the Air Jordan 1, drawn by Peter Moore with Bruce Kilgore for a Chicago Bulls rookie and released to the public on 1 April 1985 as pure basketball equipment. Adapting it for cold and wet is the brand admitting what everyone already knew: this shoe stopped being court equipment decades ago and is now outdoor footwear, worn on pavements in November as often as it was ever worn on hardwood.
Muted purple sits best against greys and blacks. Charcoal wool trousers, a black knit and a grey overcoat gives the shoe somewhere to live without competing. The second recipe is technical: black cargo trousers, a fleece or shell jacket, the plum tone providing the only colour in an otherwise utility fit. Wear it in cold and wet weather, which is what it is for, but avoid deep standing water, since no lifestyle shoe is a boot. Dry it slowly and naturally after wet days, stuff with paper to hold shape, and clean salt off the same week it lands, because salt bleaches muted dyes permanently.
The Air Jordan 1 became a mass object because it moved outdoors. Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon advertising put it into film language, hip hop put it into verses, and by the late 1980s the shoes were desirable enough that they were associated with robberies and some American schools banned them. A shoe that generates that kind of demand gets worn in every season and every climate, which is why winterised versions exist at all. Jordan Brand became a standalone Nike division in 1997 with its own apparel and its own calendar, and building seasonal outerwear logic into a 1985 basketball shoe is exactly what that independence bought.

The Acclimate designation signals a shoe intended for cold and wet conditions rather than a summer leather pair, so expect a heavier hand and more coverage than a standard Air Jordan 1, and check the exact material and closure details in hand before assuming any specific weatherproofing. Nike Air cushioning has been part of this line since the Air Jordan II. Plum Fog is a muted tone that hides grey weather grime reasonably well but shows salt marks clearly. Rinse salt off promptly with cold water and a cloth, dry away from radiators, and treat any textile or insulated panel with a fabric protector.
