Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 24 March 2021 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Gym Red/Black/White. Banned is a name that refers to an advertising campaign, and the campaign is more interesting than the myth built on top of it. The NBA's uniform policy required shoes to be at least 51 percent white, with a 5,000 dollar per game fine attached, and the shoe the league actually cited was the Nike Air Ship prototype Michael Jordan wore before the Air Jordan I released on 1 April 1985. Nike paid rather than redesigned and turned the penalty into marketing. This Low carries the black and red palette that story attached itself to, on the pattern Peter Moore drew with Bruce Kilgore in 1984, cut down for daily wear.
