Designed by Peter Moore and released on 20 November 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Black/White/Game Royal. Black, white and game royal is one of the oldest colour ideas in the line applied to its most wearable cut. Royal blue entered the Air Jordan 1's story in its first year of colourways, when Nike was still trying to establish a rookie's identity after losing basketball ground to Converse and adidas; the company had projected around three million dollars in sales over three years and instead watched the initial 50,000 pairs disappear. This Low takes that royal accent and applies it against a black and white base, so the blue works as a highlight rather than a block. It is the version of the palette you can wear without the shoe announcing which archive release it is quoting.
This one is easy to place. Dark indigo jeans, a white oxford shirt and a navy jacket gives the game royal a reason to be there and reads as smart casual without effort. For a sportier fit, black track pants with a white tee and a black cap keeps the palette exact and lets the blue do the accenting. Cuff or crop trousers so the low collar is visible, since a stacked hem hides the whole shoe. Low socks suit the cut. Wipe the white panel after wear, keep the black leather lightly conditioned, and rotate with another pair so the toe crease sets slowly.
The 1 became a cultural object because it was framed as a rule breaker, and the framing was precise: the NBA required shoes to be at least 51 percent white, the shoe cited was the Nike Air Ship prototype Jordan wore before the 1 released, and Nike paid the 5,000 dollar per game fine and made an advertising campaign out of it. Add Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon films and a decade of hip hop references from 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z, and the shape became legible to people who never watched a game. A quiet three colour Low is the everyday form of that inheritance.
The 1 Low is built from stitched panels, toe cap, eyestay, quarter and Swoosh, which is why a three colour arrangement stays crisp instead of blurring. There is no cushioning window underfoot; the 1 predates Nike Air in the line, which arrived with the Air Jordan 2, so what you get is a flat rubber cupsole and a low, stable ride. Perforations sit across the toe. The white panel between black and blue is the maintenance point, since colour transfer from the other two shows there first. Clean along the seams with a soft brush, and dry at room temperature so panel adhesives are not stressed.
