Jordan Brand's engineering record is longer than its retro catalogue suggests: carbon fibre shank plates for torsional stiffness, Kevlar reinforced laces and uppers on the Air Jordan 15, Flyknit uppers from the 30 onward and a laceless FastFit system on the 33. The Zoom Separate belongs to that side of the house, a modern silhouette built around cushioning technology rather than a 1980s pattern. Black and white, style code DH0249 051, is the plainest possible finish for it, which suits a shoe whose argument is structural.
