Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 9 November 2019 as part of Nike's Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Muslin/Varsity Red/Royal/Taxi/Black. The Air Jordan line exists because Nike signed Michael Jordan in 1984 and then let Spike Lee, directing and appearing as Mars Blackmon, sell it as culture rather than equipment. Worth correcting the folklore you have heard: the NBA never banned the Air Jordan 1. The shoe cited under the league's uniform rule was the Nike Air Ship prototype, Nike paid the fines and built a campaign around it. The Mid sits below the original high in the hierarchy and has become the canvas the line uses for artist projects, which is exactly what Fearless was. Blue The Great's version treats the silhouette as a surface to paint on, which is a very different proposition from a straight retro in team colours.
