Origin
Released on 13 March 2024 and part of the Arahi 7 line. This release has a knit upper in Cloudless/Poppy. Cloudless and Poppy is a sky blue upper cut with a hot orange red, and it is the most cheerful the Arahi 7 gets. The Arahi is Hoka's support minded daily trainer, the place where the brand's founding idea, an oversized cushioned outsole built in France so two mountain runners could descend faster, is reshaped for feet that want guidance rather than just softness. The name Hoka comes from a Maori phrase meaning to fly, and a colourway this bright makes the sentiment obvious. The pale blue keeps the exaggerated sidewall from looking heavy, while the Poppy accents mark out the branding and give the profile a direction.
Utility
Two ways to wear it. First, running kit: black shorts and a white tee, so the blue and orange read clean and stay visible at dusk. Second, weekend: light wash denim, a white crew, and a navy cap, letting the Cloudless upper sit as the soft colour and the Poppy as the punch. The company changed its name from Hoka One One to simply Hoka on 22 December 2021, saying the shorter version was easier on the lips, and the shorter name matched what the brand had become by then: no longer a niche ultrarunning curiosity but a mainstream running label with hospital corridors, city pavements and fashion floors in its audience. Bright colourways like this one are a direct line back to the early identity, when loud colour blocking on a thick midsole was how Hoka signalled that it had no interest in the minimalism the rest of the industry was chasing. A support shoe in poppy orange still carries that refusal.
Construction
Support in a Hoka does not arrive as a stiff medial post. The brand's patented J-Frame runs a J shaped band of firmer foam along the inside edge, so the shoe pushes back against the foot rolling inward while the rest of the ride stays cushioned. Pair that with the house geometry, a low heel to toe drop under a rounded sole, and guidance turns into forward motion rather than restriction. The heel sits down inside the midsole walls, which is why a shoe this tall does not feel tippy. Sky blue shows road grime quickly around the toe and midsole edge, so wipe it after runs, clean spots with mild soap, and dry it in shade rather than sun.
