Released on 18 January 2024 and part of the Arahi 7 line. This release has a knit upper in Virtual Blue/Cerise. Virtual Blue with Cerise is the loudest the Arahi 7 gets, an electric blue upper cut with a deep pink, and it is a reminder that support shoes do not have to look medical. The Arahi is Hoka's guidance minded daily trainer, built from the founding idea two ex Salomon runners had in Annecy in 2009 when they oversized an outsole to run downhill faster. Colour was part of the brand from the start, since the loud blocking on those first thick midsoles was how Hoka signalled it wanted nothing to do with the minimalism everyone else was selling. This pair carries that argument into a category usually painted grey.
Two ways to wear it. First, running: black shorts or tights and a white top, so the blue and pink are your only colour and you stay visible in poor light. Second, everyday: plain navy or black trousers with a white shirt, where the shoe becomes the single deliberate flash in an otherwise plain outfit. Fit true to size with a thumbnail at the toe. Clean the Cerise panels early, since bright accents look tired faster than the main upper, and rotate pairs to protect the cushioning.
Bright cushioned Hokas turned up in hospital corridors long before they turned up on runways. Once the brand's cushioning translated from trail to road, staff working twelve hour shifts adopted the models by word of mouth, and colour became a small piece of personality inside a uniform. That healthcare wave is what carried the silhouette into general awareness, ahead of the fashion adoption that followed. A blue and pink stability trainer belongs to that world as much as to running: it is a shoe bought for a body that has to keep working, chosen in a colourway that refuses to be dour about it.
The support comes from foam placement rather than a stiff medial post. The patented J-Frame runs firmer foam in a J along the inside edge so the shoe resists inward collapse while the rest of the ride stays cushioned, and the house geometry, a low heel to toe drop under a rounded sole, keeps that guidance rolling you forward. The heel sits down inside the midsole walls, which is where a tall shoe gets its composure. Strong blue holds its tone well, though the Cerise accents and the midsole edge will show wear first. Clean with mild soap and a soft brush, dry in shade so the colours stay even, and keep the foam away from direct heat.
