Designed by Peter Moore and released on 23 July 2022 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a leather upper in Black/Pure Platinum/White. Disrupt 2 is the Dunk taken apart and rebuilt with the proportions exaggerated: a thicker, layered midsole, a bulkier outline and a doubled Swoosh treatment that pushes the shoe away from its court origins. Style code DV4024 002 puts it in the black and white scheme the internet decided to call Panda, a nickname that stuck so hard it now functions as an official colour name. Nike has form for letting the audience rename its products; the company that became a status symbol in urban and hip hop fashion from the 1980s onward has always understood that it does not fully control what its shoes mean once they leave the box.
The extra height wants a hem that acknowledges it. First recipe: cropped straight leg denim or trousers ending just above the collar, with a black or white top, so the layered midsole is fully visible and reads as intentional. Second: wide leg black trousers stacked slightly, with an oversized grey sweatshirt, using the platform to balance a heavy silhouette. This runs like a Dunk through the foot but sits taller, so allow a couple of wears to adjust. Clean the white panels with a soft brush and mild soap, treat the layered midsole edges separately since that is where grime settles, and keep them out of prolonged wet because layered construction dries slowly.
Black and white is the most reproduced sneaker palette in the world for a reason: it goes with everything and photographs cleanly, which matters in a market where shoes sell through images before they sell in shops. Nike has ridden that dynamic since Just Do It arrived in 1988 and made the brand legible without a product in frame. A chunky, remixed Dunk in black and white is engineered for exactly this environment, recognisable at thumbnail size, wearable with anything, and different enough from the original silhouette to signal that you chose it rather than defaulted to it.
This is a taller, heavier shoe than a standard Dunk and it is meant to look it. The Disrupt build stacks the midsole to add height and reworks the upper panelling so the pieces overlap rather than sit flush, which produces a deliberately layered, slightly unfinished appearance. That has two practical consequences: you gain noticeable height and a more cushioned platform underfoot, and you get more edges and crevices where dirt collects. Black and white is the most forgiving scheme for that, because the black panels absorb scuffing while the white ones can be cleaned without worrying about colour matching. Break in is short but the extra midsole height changes how you walk for the first few days.
