Released on 2 March 2019 and part of the P-6000 line. This release has the Metallic Silver/White-University Red colourway. The P-6000 is Nike raiding its own late nineties and early two thousands running archive, the period when the company was already at scale, headquartered in Beaverton since 1990 and selling technology as design. Those runners were built with layered synthetic overlays and metallic accents because that was what progress looked like at the time. This women's CNPT version in Metallic Silver and Red revives exactly that language: chrome adjacent panels, a red accent and a low, fast looking profile that owes nothing to current running design. It is a shoe that reads as a period piece and wears as a very easy everyday sneaker.
Two ways to wear it. Sharp and modern: a slim midi skirt or tailored trousers with a fitted knit, where the silver reads as hardware and the red as jewellery. Relaxed archive: light wash straight leg denim, a plain white tee and a zip up, closer to how these shoes were originally worn. Best in dry, bright weather where metallic finishes look intentional. The last is low and narrow, so size true and consider a thin sock. Wipe metallic panels with a damp microfibre cloth rather than brushing, which dulls the coating, clean the mesh separately, and store away from anything that will rub the silver.
Nike's running heritage is genuine and old, running from Bowerman's waffle iron experiments through Steve Prefontaine as the company's first track endorser to Allyson Felix, Michael Johnson and the rest of its track roster. But archive runners like this one have found their second life in fashion rather than in sport, worn with skirts and tailoring by people who have no interest in mileage. That inversion is now a permanent part of how Nike sells: the performance programme creates the credibility and the archive turns it into wardrobe.
A layered running build: a mesh base with synthetic overlays stacked over it for structure, a foam midsole shaped for a low, flat stance and a rubber outsole patterned for road. The metallic silver panels are a coated finish rather than a dyed one, which means they change with the light and crease into fine lines instead of staying smooth, and red lands as the accent that keeps the shoe from reading purely industrial. There is no exposed Air unit here and no plate: this is the everyday end of Nike's running lineage, descended from Bill Bowerman's obsession with light soles rather than from the carbon plated racing programme. Expect a narrow, low fit.
