New Balance 530 Silver Metallic Mallard Green

Released on 24 October 2024 and part of New Balance's 530 line. This release has a mesh upper in Reflection/Silver Metallic/Mallard Green. Silver metallic with mallard green is the 530 at its most modern, and it works because the underlying shoe is so plainly of the 1990s. The model is a cushioned trainer from the period when New Balance built running shoes as tools, with a tall heel and a side wall full of panels, and it never belonged to the premium 99x family the 990 opened in 1982. Adding a reflective silver base and a deep duck green makes that ordinary shape look considered rather than dated. It is the same trick the brand has been benefiting from for years: take something engineered and unstyled, then let colour do the only styling it needs.
