Designed by Peter Moore and released on 16 November 2023 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Blue Tint/Summit White/White/Ice Blue. A glitter Swoosh is the clearest signal that the Air Jordan 1 stopped being sports equipment a long time ago. Jordan Brand has been a standalone division inside Nike since 1997, with its own apparel, roster and collaborations, and that independence is what lets it treat the most historically loaded panel on the shoe, the Swoosh, as a place to put sparkle. Built on grade school sizing and cut low, this SE takes the Peter Moore panel layout and changes only one thing, which is the most efficient kind of special edition: the silhouette stays completely recognisable while a single material swap changes who the shoe is for and where it gets worn.
Glitter reads best when nothing else competes for shine. Straight leg denim, a plain white tee and a solid coloured jacket keeps the sparkle as the single texture event. For an evening version, black trousers with a black knit turn the Swoosh into jewellery, which is exactly the effect the material is chasing. Avoid sequinned or metallic clothing, since two shiny things cancel each other out. The low cut suits warm weather and casual dressing rather than anything requiring a formal shoe. Grade school sizing runs smaller than men's, so convert carefully before ordering. Store in the box away from friction, since glitter panels wear at contact points faster than the leather around them.
Jordan Brand's music side collaborators include Drake, Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Eminem and Nicki Minaj, which is how a basketball house ended up designing for an audience that has never cared about a box score. Expressive, material driven editions like a glitter Swoosh belong to that lineage. They exist because the brand proved, through its collaboration programme with Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Dior, Comme des Garcons, Supreme and KAWS, that the 1 survives any treatment applied to it. A clean base upper carries a glittered Swoosh, which is a material change rather than a colour change, so the shoe shifts appearance under different light instead of holding one flat tone.
