Released on 15 May 2025 and part of Nike's Vomero 18 line. This release has a mesh upper in Blue Void/Blue Lightning/Bright Crimson/Metallic Silver. The Vomero is the cushioned daily runner in Nike's road range, the shoe built for the accumulation of ordinary miles rather than for a finish line. That job is the oldest one in the company: Bill Bowerman started Blue Ribbon Sports with Phil Knight in 1964 because he believed American runners deserved lighter, better shoes than the domestic market offered, and everything the brand later became was funded by shoes people wore every day. The eighteenth version in Blue Void with metallic silver takes that workhorse brief and gives it a deep navy body with a cold reflective accent, so it looks sharper than the training log it is destined for.
Two uses. Daily miles: shorts or leggings, a light top, and this on the easy runs and long runs where comfort matters more than any pace number. Casual: navy or grey trousers with a plain sweatshirt, since Blue Void with a silver flash passes as a normal shoe far better than a white trainer does. Take your usual running size and check the toe box with running socks. Rotate it with a second pair so the foam recovers, keep it on roads and treadmills rather than trails, and replace it once the ride feels flat rather than waiting for visible damage.
Nike's running credibility starts with Steve Prefontaine, its first track athlete endorser, who made running look like attitude rather than sport and whose statue stands at the Beaverton headquarters the company moved to in 1990. The roster that followed, Sebastian Coe, Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Allyson Felix, competed at a level almost nobody buying this shoe will reach, which is the point: the daily trainer is where the brand meets everyone else. Just Do It, launched on 1 July 1988 with an 80 year old runner named Walt Stack, said exactly that, and Advertising Age later called it one of the century's five best lines.
A cushioned neutral trainer is tuned for comfort over hours: a generous foam midsole, a stable platform, and an engineered upper with enough structure to hold the foot without pressure points. Nike's foam family runs from Lunarlite, its lightweight everyday option, to ZoomX, the altered Pebax used in racing shoes, with the daily models chosen for durability rather than rebound. Dark uppers hide road film well, which is part of why Blue Void is a practical choice, but metallic detailing dulls if you brush it hard. Clean the mesh with mild soap and a soft brush, wipe the silver gently, and never put a running shoe through a machine.
