Released on 22 October 2023 and part of the ReactX Infinity Run line. This release has a flyknit upper in Sesame/Buff Gold/Luminous Green/Purple Ink. The Infinity Run is the shoe Nike makes for the runner who is not chasing a time. Where the Vaporfly and Alphafly exist to shave percentages off a marathon, this line exists to make the daily hour bearable, with a wide, stable platform and a soft foam under a stride that is going to get tired. ReactX is the current foam generation carrying it. Sesame with Purple Ink is a warm, muted take rather than a technical one: an oatmeal toned upper with a deep purple doing the branding and midsole detailing, which makes it one of the few daily trainers you can wear without looking like you are on your way to a race.
This is your high mileage shoe. Use it for easy runs, long slow distance and recovery days, worn with cushioned crew socks, and let a lighter shoe handle the fast sessions. Second use is standing and walking: the wide platform makes it a good travel and long day shoe, and Sesame with Purple Ink pairs easily with grey or olive joggers off duty. Size with a thumbnail of toe room; the knit upper gives slightly but does not stretch dramatically. Rotate pairs so the foam decompresses between runs, remove insoles to dry after wet miles, air dry away from heat, and avoid machine washing, which breaks down foam and delaminates the upper.
Nike's sustainability engineering usually gets less attention than its racing shoes, but Nike Grind, which recycles manufacturing scrap and worn shoes back into new product and surfaces, is one of the company's longest running programmes and daily trainers are where content tends to appear at scale. The cultural framing goes back further. Just Do It, first aired on 1 July 1988 with 80 year old runner Walt Stack rather than an elite athlete, told everyone the brand was addressing ordinary people putting in ordinary miles, and Steve Prefontaine, the first track endorser, gave it the attitude. The everyday trainer is where those two ideas actually meet.
The Infinity build works through geometry as much as materials. A wide, flared midsole platform gives a stable base under a fatiguing stride, and a knit style upper with structured support around the midfoot holds the foot without hard overlays, which is the same logic Nike pursued with Flywire cables: hold more, use less. ReactX foam does the cushioning, the latest step in a line that runs from Lunarlite through React toward ZoomX, Nike's lightest and most responsive Pebax based material. Sesame across the upper keeps the shoe warm toned and shows dirt honestly, while Purple Ink picks out the Swoosh and sole detailing. Expect a soft, guided, slightly heavy ride built for volume rather than speed.
