Designed by Peter Moore and released on 13 September 2023 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Praline/White/Sail. Praline is a warm nutty tan, and on a Retro High OG it turns the Air Jordan 1 into something closer to a leather boot than a sneaker. OG spec means the original proportions, the Wings mark stamped at the ankle collar and the Nike Air tongue label rather than a Jumpman, all carried from the shoe Peter Moore designed with Bruce Kilgore and Nike produced for Michael Jordan on 17 November 1984. This is the women's cut, and the palette makes the case for it: soft tan across a full height silhouette is a fashion proposition, not a sports one, and it works because the shape is strong enough to survive being drained of team colour.
Tan behaves like a neutral if you commit. Cream wide leg trousers with an oatmeal knit and a camel coat gives a full tonal build where the shoe is the darkest point and the whole thing holds together. For contrast, black denim with a black knit lets the tan warm up an otherwise severe outfit. Keep hems above the collar, cuffed or cropped, so the High reads properly. Size to your usual women's length. Protect the leather before first wear, keep it out of rain since water marks tan permanently, and condition once a season with a colourless product.
The Air Jordan 1's crossover into fashion was made legitimate by the line's own history of borrowing formal materials, most decisively when the Air Jordan 11 put patent leather onto a basketball court, which is why people wear that model with suits. A tan high top is the same instinct in a quieter register. The house has since worked with Dior and Comme des Garcons alongside Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Supreme and KAWS, so a warm neutral women's OG is not a departure from what Jordan Brand does. It is the everyday product of it.
Tan leather across toe, quarter, eyestay and collar with the panel breaks visible as tone shifts rather than hard colour changes, which gives the High a softer outline than a two colour pair. Perforated toe box, padded ankle collar, foam midsole over a rubber outsole. Warm tan is a mid difficulty finish: it hides road dust better than white and shows oil and water marks worse, so the enemy is rain rather than dirt. Lace through the top eyelet for actual ankle support, or leave it open for a slouched collar. Condition with a colourless product only, since tinted conditioners will darken tan unevenly across the panel seams.
